Ba Chong Stone

History

Until the middle of the 19th century, Nha Trang had still been a deserted area with wildlife animals like tigers, and was a part of Hà Bạc, Vinh Xuong District, Diên Khánh Province. Nha Trang officially became a center urbain under the Indochina Governor General’s decision issued on the 30th August 1924. After only 2 decades of early 20nd century, Nha Trang underwent rapid changes and became today’s Nha Trang city – a marvellous picture with old view but modern and fresh environmental city of Khanh Hoa.

The name of the city – “Nha Trang” – derives from a false Vietnamese spelling of a geographical name in the Cham language of the site Ya Trang, (which litterrally means Lau River, the name of the now Cai River as referred to by the Cham people). From this, the name was adopted to call what is now Nha Trang.

Natural conditions

Nha Trang is known as a sea city with a great long beach and a lot of islands, making the city different and outstanding from any other cities of Vietnam. With 19 islands, Nha Trang is famous with beautiful view and different species living inside (such as the Monkey Island). People also live there, specifically around 2,500 households and 15,000 persons. A legendary junction – Dong Loc Junction

Dong Loc T-junction situated in Dong Loc commune, Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province was a strategic road during the war against the US. It was a point of important connection between the North and Ho Chi Minh Trail as a supply line. This junction has massively suffered from the pain of bombardment by US air-crafts.

The T-junction is now memorized to ten heroines unmarried girls aged from 17 to 22 being killed by an air attack on 1968. They are ten courageous girls who staying at the post, using only simple tools of shovels and hoes to level bomb craters, to repair the road for traffic. Their names have been engraved on the hill, among the whistling pines at the Dong Loc road junction.

The fabulous beauty – Ke Go Lake

The Cham Museum showcases the sculptures from the Champa or Cham people who inhabited and ruled Central VietNam from 192 AD to 1835. The museum was built by the French with heavy Cham influence showcased in the architectural design. Sculptures and adornment were brought in from temples and towers from all over the region. Sculptures rage in age from the 6th to 17th century. These artifacts and works of art and deal with Buddhist and Hindu influenced materials. Gods, sacred animals, and legends were carved as altars, statues and other temple adornments. Almost 300 different works are on display inside and outside of the main building.

Archaeologists have recently unearthed an ancient Cham tower in Phong Le Village in Danang which is thought to be 1,000 years old. The tower has four gates and four towers and measures 16m by 16m. The site is rich in artefacts as many have been unearthed so far, providing further insight into the ancient Champa kingdom.

Relax on the beautiful beaches of Da Nang

One of the more famous beaches is My Khe, or China Beach. This beach was once an R&R location for American troops during the Vietnam War. Today it is still used for relaxing, and enjoying the sun and sand.
